Against Expectations

" Abstract Art Exhibition" , mmmm, " Shapes & Colors", mmmmmmmm." , I thought while reading the invitation of the exhibition.
" Wow! Another exhibition entitled "Woman Suffering"; creativity sure is the offspring of suffering J "
I smiled to the idea and took myself to El Sawy Culture Wheel to watch both exhibitions.
For my surprise, Samia Morsy El Ghary violated that coldness & indifference usually related to abstractionism . Colors realms are very vivid and mature. Colors speak and converse with the remained white areas to whisper to your feelings and realization with a certain thing that differs from a painting to another, but always hold your feeling of balance and content.
For my disappointment, Darin Muhammad provoked expectations that are very far away from her works. Let me just talk about the obvious expressive side of them : what have those relaxed faces and peace-minded women in their luxury to do with suffering? What have those saturated lines, colors, and compositions that are very stable with each other to do with it? There is just one painting or two that colors & the movement of lines try to "claim" revolution, but unable to reflect it . Darin needs to put pompous slogans aside and try to dive in her own deeps.
